Swiss Post and Fenaco Launch Nationwide Fast-Charging Network

Swiss Post and Fenaco have officially signed agreements for their joint venture to create a nationwide fast-charging network. The initiative, named PowerUp, aims to establish fast-charging points at around 50 locations by mid-2025, with plans to expand to 300 sites featuring 1,500 charging points by 2030.
Announced just over a year ago, this joint venture seeks to install fast chargers across towns, villages, and rural regions in Switzerland. The focus remains on providing convenient charging options close to workplaces, shopping centers, and recreational areas.
Originally, the companies had envisioned 150 locations, but the updated target now includes 300 sites. These chargers will be installed at Swiss Post branches, Agrola petrol stations, and Landi stores throughout Switzerland.
Swiss Post CEO Roberto Cirillo noted, "While fast-charging stations already cover main routes, PowerUp will ensure that villages, towns, and rural areas have access to charging options, contributing to Switzerland's electromobility goals." Fenaco CEO Martin Keller echoed this sentiment, highlighting AGROLA's success in bringing fast charging to rural areas and expressing excitement about accelerating the network's growth.
In addition to the charging infrastructure, PowerUp will utilize 100% renewable Swiss electricity, with some energy generated on-site through solar panels. The project will also involve local microgrids and battery storage systems to manage excess solar energy efficiently.
However, the joint venture is still pending approval from competition authorities before it can officially launch.
