Easelink receives million euro investment from Verbund

Matrix charging

Easelink, a developer based in Graz known for its automated conductive charging solution called Matrix Charging, has received a €1.5 million investment from the Austrian energy company Verbund. This funding is aimed at aiding Easelink in expanding its international presence.

Verbund has confirmed that the investment has been made through its subsidiary, Verbund X Ventures, to help the Graz-based startup accelerate its efforts in establishing relationships with global car manufacturers and in advancing industry standards worldwide.

Matrix Charging, Easelink's flagship technology, has garnered significant interest. This innovative system allows vehicles to charge by positioning a charging plate mounted on the underbody over a pad on the ground. Unlike inductive charging, which transmits current wirelessly and incurs some energy loss, Easelink's method involves lowering a connector from the vehicle onto the floor plate, ensuring a conductive connection that minimizes energy loss.

Michael Strugl, CEO of Verbund AG, stated, "Easelink's automated charging solution has the potential to greatly enhance electromobility and speed up the transition to a sustainable energy system. By investing, we contribute significantly to Europe's decarbonization efforts through the advancement of innovative, customer-focused solutions in electromobility."

Franz Zöchbauer, Managing Director at Verbund X Ventures, highlighted Easelink's ambitious goal with its potentially game-changing technology, which is developed in Austria. "We aim to collaborate closely with Easelink to assist in scaling and refining its business models," he noted.

Easelink is already in collaboration with various car manufacturers interested in integrating Matrix Charging into their upcoming vehicle models, along with partnerships with charging experts like Keba. The company employs around 40 people across its offices in Austria and China. Hermann Stockinger, CEO and founder of Easelink, emphasized, "We believe that automated charging is crucial for the widespread adoption of electromobility. With Matrix Charging, we provide an efficient and user-friendly solution that benefits both users and infrastructure."
