Electric Vehicle 500A CCS Plug

Charging Speed

The most obvious advantage of SENKU Electric Vehicle 500A CCS Plug is the rapid charging speed. High-power charging guns can deliver electricity at a higher current, thereby quickly filling the battery or rapidly replenishing charge in a shorter period. This significantly reduces charging stop times, enhancing the availability of electric vehicles.

Long-Distance Travel Convenience

Fast charging station with SENKU Electric Vehicle 500A CCS Plug is particularly crucial for electric vehicles engaged in long-distance travel. High-power charging can quickly recharge the vehicle during journeys, allowing drivers to replenish sufficient charge in a shorter stop time and thereby extending their driving range.

Enhanced User Acceptance

Users are more likely to embrace electric vehicles if charging times can be comparable to traditional refueling processes. The rapid charging feature of high-power charging guns boosts user acceptance of electric cars.

Optimized Charging Network Utilization

High-power charging equipment can utilize charging facilities more efficiently. Since each vehicle spends less time at charging stations due to the shorter charging duration, more vehicles can be serviced. This helps enhance the efficiency and utilization of the charging network.

How Many Types of Charging Connectors Are There?

Electric Vehicle Charging Plugs are mainly divided into two categories: DC guns and AC guns, namely DC and AC. Simply put, DC guns are suitable for fast charging and are commonly found in public charging stations; However, household charging stations often use AC guns.

China Standard

The Chinese charging standard, known as the National Standard (GB/T), it is a unique standard in China with regional characteristics. From a technical perspective, "national standard" is an improved protocol based on "European standard"

European Standard

The European charging standard, Follow the IEC 62196 interface specification, widely used in Europe.

Type 2 connector stands out with its unique design, circular but with a flat edge at the top. Its pin distribution is similar to Type 1, but with the addition of two pins, corresponding to the two additional phases required for three-phase charging. It allows charging from 3KW to 43 kW and can support single-phase up to 16 A and three-phase up to 63 A. The evolution of this connector is T2-S, which includes additional locking for the connector. In France, connector version T2-S is mandatory.

CCS Combo 2 is based on Type 2 connectors and adds two additional pins. The combination charging system is designed specifically for fast DC charging. This connector can perform AC and DC charging up to 350 kW.

North American Standard

The North American charging standard, also known as the American Standard, is used mainly in the United States and Canada.

The Type 1 connector can be easily identified through three large pins - similar to the layout of a home power outlet - and two smaller pins used for car connections. Three wide pins are used for phase, neutral, and ground, while two small pins are used for communication between the charger and the electric vehicle (Pilot Interface).
It can provide power from 3kW to 19.2 kW and only supports single-phase with a maximum current of 80A. It includes additional protection to lock the connector during charging to prevent third-party disconnection.

CCS Combo 1 is based on J17721 connector and adds two additional pins. The combination charging system is designed specifically for fast DC charging. This connector can perform AC and DC charging up to 350 kW.

Japanese Standard

The Japanese charging standard, unique in its approach, is employed in Japan, South Korea, the United States, and some Nordic countries.

For AC charging, it utilizes the American J1772 standard, while for DC charging, it follows the CHAdeMO standard. Companies such as Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi, and Tokyo Electric Power support this standard.

CHADEMO can provide up to 62.5 kW of power and reach 125 A, but the revised CHAdeMO 2.0 specification allows for up to 400 kW.

NACS Standard

Tesla has its own set of charging standards, the NACS, it support both AC charging and DC charging.

The North American Charging System (NACS) is an electric vehicle charging connector system developed by Tesla, with the standard number SAE J3400. Since 2021, all Tesla cars in the North American market have been using it, and it will be opened for use by other manufacturers in November 2022. It is backward compatible with proprietary Tesla connectors produced before 2021.

Between May 2023 and February 2024, almost all other car manufacturers announced that their electric vehicles in North America will be equipped with NACS charging ports starting from 2025. Several electric vehicle charging network operators and equipment manufacturers have also announced plans to increase NACS connectors.

The NACS connector has two different configurations, one supporting up to 500 volts and the other supporting up to 1000 volts, and is backward compatible with the former.
NACS does not specify a maximum rated current. As long as the interface temperature of the connector does not exceed 105 ℃, any current is allowed. Tesla claims to have continuously operated connectors above 900 amperes.
