What is the CHADEMO 

CHAdeMO is the commercial name for a fast charging method for pure electric vehicles. Through its dedicated electronic connector, it can provide a maximum of 62.5 kilowatts (500 volts, 125 amps) of direct current to the vehicle. The CHAdeMO 2.0 specification also allows the reverse transmission of power from the vehicle to the outside. The maximum power transmitted to the outside by the CHAdeMO 2.0 specification is 400 kilowatts (1000 volts, 400 amps) of direct current.

CHAdeMO is a technical standard proposed in 2010 by an organization of the same name consisting of four major Japanese automakers and Tokyo Electric Power, including IEC61851-23, -24 (charging station systems and communications) and IEC 62196 standards (Configuration AA). Similar standards include the combined charging system (CCS) of most European and American automakers, Tesla Supercharger, and China's national charging standards (mainly GB/T 20234).

CHAdeMO is the abbreviation of CHArge de MOve, which means it is a fast charging standard. Its name is derived from the Japanese "お茶でもいかがですか OChademoikagadesuka" (Would you like a cup of tea?), which means that charging can be completed in the time it takes to drink a cup of tea. CHAdeMO can charge vehicles with short-range (120 km) electric vehicle needs in half an hour. As of June 2018, CHAdeMO allows charging up to 400 kW (400A x 1kV), and the current development goal is 900 kW. It is working with the China Electricity Council to start the next generation of ultra-high power charging standards, named ChaoJi.
