Mainstream topology of charging module

1. Topology of pre-stage PFC:

(1) Three-phase three-wire three-level VIENNA:

The mainstream PFC topology of charging modules on the market is shown in the figure above: three-phase three-wire three-level VIENNA, SK-20K1000 20KW EV DC charging power module uses this topology. Each phase of this topology can be equivalent to a BOOST circuit.

 

Due to the following advantages of the VIENNA rectifier, it is very suitable as the topology of the rectifier device of the charger.

1. The construction of large-scale charging stations requires a large number of chargers, and cost control is very necessary. The VIENNA rectifier reduces the number of power switching devices and its three-level characteristics reduce the maximum voltage drop of the power switch tube. A small number of relatively cheap low-voltage power devices can be selected, which greatly reduces the cost;

2. Power density, that is, the power per unit volume, is also an important indicator of the charger. The high control frequency of the VIENNA rectifier reduces the volume of the inductor and transformer, greatly reduces the volume of the charger, and improves the power density;

3. The high power factor and low harmonic current of the VIENNA rectifier prevent the charger from bringing a large amount of harmonic pollution to the power grid, which is conducive to the large-scale construction of charging stations. Therefore, mainstream charging module manufacturers all use VIENNA rectifiers as the rectifier device topology of the charger.

4. The two MOS tubes in each phase are connected in reverse series, and there will be no phenomenon of direct connection between the upper and lower tubes like the PWM rectifier. There is no need to consider the dead zone, and the drive circuit is relatively easy to implement.

 

Disadvantages:

1. Output neutral point balance problem: Fluctuation of neutral point voltage will increase the harmonic component of the current injected into the grid. When the neutral point voltage deviates seriously, the switch components and the DC side current will be damaged by excessive voltage. Therefore, the balance of the DC side neutral point potential must be considered;

2. Energy can only be transferred in one direction.
