XCharge launches battery supported charging stations for the North American market

XCharge North America has launched a new electric vehicle charger aimed at meeting the demands of the U.S. power grid. The 'GridLink' charger supports bi-directional charging and features a built-in battery to enhance grid stability.
The GridLink can provide up to 300 kW of charging power and includes an energy storage system developed by XCharge, which has a capacity of 215 kWh. This storage can be upgraded to 430 kWh, optimizing its performance for various use cases.
Additionally, the battery system reduces the charger's reliance on grid power. The GridLink is designed to work with both 208V and 480V electrical systems, meaning that installation requires minimal electrical modifications, which lowers costs and simplifies setup.
"GridLink represents a major advancement for EV charging in North America," stated Aatish Patel, Co-founder and President of XCharge North America. "By providing 300 kW of power and incorporating grid-forming features through battery discharge, we're enhancing charging speeds and revolutionizing the interaction between EV service equipment and the grid. This innovation will improve the accessibility of fast charging and contribute to stabilizing our energy infrastructure as EV usage increases, addressing the specific challenges of the North American market and setting the stage for a more electrified future."
In August 2023, XCharge announced the establishment of its U.S. manufacturing facility in Texas, which officially opened in November. Previously, the company unveiled their NetZero model in 2022, capable of delivering fast charging at up to 210 kW while simultaneously charging two vehicles. This model is also offered with battery storage options of 233 or 466 kWh.
