North Dakota to Enhance Fast-Charging Infrastructure

British Columbia Nears Completion Of 'Electric Highway

The North Dakota Department of Transportation has issued a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to strategically promote the installation of accessible, dependable, and equitable DC fast chargers for electric vehicles in up to 16 communities throughout the state.

This NOFO will facilitate the allocation of approximately $1.2 million in funding from the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) Advanced Transportation and Congestion Management Technologies Deployment (ATCMTD) Program. The program is distinct from the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) initiative, which focuses on developing EV charging stations along I-94 and I-29.

"This funding initiative enables North Dakota to direct investments in EV charging infrastructure across various communities in our state," stated Russ Buchholz, project manager at NDDOT. "Installing fast chargers in these areas will help alleviate range anxiety for EV drivers, making North Dakota more accessible to local EV users and visitors alike."
