Kraken takes over smart charging specialist Jedlix
Kraken, an AI-driven platform, has acquired the Dutch smart charging firm Jedlix, along with its technology and team. The company plans to repurpose Jedlix's facilities in Rotterdam into a technology center.
This acquisition aims to bolster Kraken's position as a flexible demand management provider for energy suppliers, while also helping electric vehicle owners access more affordable and sustainable energy. However, specific details about the deal have not been disclosed.
Devrim Celal, Kraken's Chief Marketing & Flexibility Officer, stated, "The Jedlix team's extensive expertise and their Rotterdam development center enhance our offerings and help our customers shift to more cost-effective and environmentally friendly charging options." Jedlix's CEO, Serge Subiron, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, noting, "Our mission has been to facilitate zero-emission and cost-free charging for millions of electric vehicles globally. Partnering with Kraken allows us to extend this vision to distributed energy resources on a larger scale."
Jedlix specializes in smart and bidirectional charging solutions and boasts a diverse array of API integration agreements with various electric vehicle and charger manufacturers, as well as energy providers. Its partners include companies like Renault, Polestar, Kia, Hyundai, and several energy suppliers.
In contrast, Kraken, a part of Octopus Energy, serves as a comprehensive AI-enabled platform dedicated to the digital transformation of utility companies. Its clients include notable names such as EDF Energy, E.ON Next, Origin, and Tokyo Gas.
