ChargePoint launches more affordable fleet charging solution
ChargePoint has unveiled a cost-effective charging solution for fleets looking to transition to electric vehicles. The CPF50, a Level 2 charger, is equipped with a comprehensive suite of fleet charge management capabilities.
With a starting price of $699, this charging solution aims to make it easier for organizations considering electric vehicles to acquire and install charging infrastructure while maximizing the advantages of electrification. ChargePoint promotes the idea that fleet operators can enhance their overall cost efficiency by utilizing its fleet management software.
This software offers real-time visibility into vehicle readiness, energy consumption, and charger status. It also includes energy management tools to help reduce fuel costs and control access to charging stations. ChargePoint emphasizes simplifying station management with an integrated solution, allowing multiple CPF50 chargers to be connected and managed through the platform. Additionally, the system enables cloud-based power sharing to lower charging expenses and improve battery longevity. It is compatible with both J1772 and NACS connectors.
Rick Wilmer, CEO of ChargePoint, stated, "Our most affordable charger for commercial vehicles provides a solution that makes charging more accessible for small businesses aiming to electrify their fleets, as well as for larger fleets focused on minimizing total ownership costs. We are reducing hardware expenses, and when combined with our robust fleet software platform, this offering can cater to the charging requirements of fleets of any size, optimizing their savings."
ChargePoint has also been expanding its presence in the public sector, recently securing $19 million to develop fast-charging infrastructure in California. In August, the company announced its innovative use of AI for diagnosing issues in charging stations. Prior to that, it entered into a partnership with Daimler Buses regarding ChargePoint's telematics and charge management system.
