On July 4, GAC AION announced its official membership in the Thailand Charging Consortium. This consortium, led by the Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand (EVAT), brings together 18 charging station operators to create a robust energy replenishment network and advance Thailand's new energy vehicle industry.

Thailand aims to significantly boost electric vehicle development by 2035. However, the rapid increase in new energy vehicle sales and usage has highlighted challenges such as insufficient charging stations, low energy replenishment efficiency, and poor network layout.

To address these issues, GAC AION is partnering with its subsidiary, GAC Energy, and various ecosystem partners to establish a comprehensive energy replenishment system in Thailand. By 2024, GAC AION plans to set up 25 electric vehicle charging stations in the Bangkok Metropolitan Region, and by 2028, it aims to build 200 charging stations with 1,000 supercharging points across 100 cities in Thailand.

Since entering the Thai market in September last year, GAC AION has been steadily expanding its presence. On May 7, GAC AION marked a significant milestone in local production by signing an agreement for a factory in the 185 Bonded Zone. On May 14, GAC Energy Technology (Thailand) Co., Ltd. was officially registered in Bangkok, focusing on new energy vehicle charging, including charging station operations, the import and export of charging piles, energy storage and photovoltaic products, and home charging pile installation services.

On May 25, Khon Kaen International Airport in Thailand held a ceremony for the delivery of 200 AION ES taxis, with the first batch consisting of 50 units. This follows GAC AION's delivery of 500 AION ES units to Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport in February. The AION ES meets the requirements of Airports of Thailand (AOT), and it is expected that 1,000 oil-fueled taxis will be replaced by the end of the year.

Additionally, GAC AION is nearing completion of its first overseas factory in Thailand-the Thailand Intelligent Eco-factory-which will soon start production. The factory will produce the second-generation AION V, GAC AION's first global strategic model.
