What is the CHADEMO standard?
----SENKU MACHINERY
CHAdeMO refers to a quick charging protocol for battery electric vehicles. The original CHAdeMO 1.0 standard can deliver up to 62.5 kW at 500 V and 125 A of direct current using a specialized CHAdeMO connector. The updated CHAdeMO 2.0 specification supports up to 400 kW at 1000 V and 400 A of direct current.
Introduced in 2010, CHAdeMO was proposed as a global industry standard by an association of the same name, which includes five major Japanese automakers. This standard is recognized under IEC61851-23, -24 (charging system and communication) and the IEC 62196 standard as configuration AA. It competes with other standards such as the Combined Charging System (CCS), used by most German (CCS2) and US automakers (CCS1), and the Tesla Supercharger.
The CHAdeMO Association was established by Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO), Nissan, Mitsubishi, and Fuji Heavy Industries (now Subaru Corporation).
