Volvo Trucks Introduces New Charge Management Service
Volvo Trucks has launched a new service designed to streamline the charging process for electric trucks. The new "Charging Management" platform is aimed at helping transport companies efficiently manage the charging of their electric trucks at their home depots.
The platform enables fleet operators to create charging schedules, outlining when each vehicle should start charging and reach full battery capacity. This helps increase both productivity and operational uptime by ensuring that trucks are adequately charged for upcoming tasks while reducing the need for unplanned charging stops.
"Charging is a critical aspect of running electric trucks. Transport companies need to ensure their trucks are charged and ready for the next assignment. It's also important to monitor the charging process to catch any issues. This service simplifies that for haulers," explained Johan Östberg, Electromobility Service Owner at Volvo Trucks.
Previously, Volvo introduced its "Open Charge" service, which allows drivers to access public charging stations in three simple steps: find, book, and charge. Available through Volvo Trucks' digital services, this feature allows users to locate charging stations via Volvo Connect or a mobile app, check station availability, and handle billing. Volvo also plans to introduce a feature for reserving charging slots in the near future.
