• Volvo cars USA will establish the first open public electric vehicle charging network in Starbucks
• On the 1350 mile road between Seattle and Denver, up to 15 stores will pilot the installation of up to 60 ChargePoint DC fast chargers, which is planned to start this summer
• Collaboration to understand the scalability of electric vehicle chargers in Starbucks stores
On March 15, 2022 (MAHWAH, New Jersey and Seattle, Washington), Volvo cars USA and Starbucks are cooperating to establish the first public electric vehicle charging network powered by ChargePoint in the American store of this coffee company from this summer.
This effort may make charging Volvo's pure electric vehicle as easy as going to Starbucks.
ChargePoint's DC fast charger can charge the Volvo C40 in about 40 minutes, from 20% to 90%. When their car is charging outside, drivers and passengers can enjoy their favorite Starbucks drink in the car.
Just as Volvo cars plans to become a fully electric vehicle company by 2030, Starbucks also hopes to lead the retail industry in decarbonization solutions, including electric vehicle charging and on-site solar power supply in stores and surrounding areas. Starbucks plans to expand its solar pilot stores to 55 new stores this year.
