ScottishPower Introduces Home EV Charging Initiative

ScottishPower has launched a new add-on feature, "EV Optimise," allowing customers to participate in smart charging for their electric vehicles during off-peak hours when demand on the UK's power grid is lower, potentially lowering electricity costs.
This new service is available as an add-on to existing eligible ScottishPower tariffs. Through the EV Optimise program, customers can receive a monthly credit on their electricity bill by allowing ScottishPower to remotely manage their EV charging at home.
The company highlights that with the EV Optimise scheme, customers could charge their electric vehicles at a cost of "as little as 2p per mile." ScottishPower currently serves over 10,000 EV drivers and has installed more than 4,000 home charging points. The company also points to the growing popularity of EVs, noting that 20 per cent of new cars in the UK are now electric.
"Our goal is to make the switch to EVs as seamless as possible for our customers," said Andy Mouat, Head of Smart Mobility at ScottishPower. "By participating in this initiative, our customers are not only saving on their bills and reducing their carbon emissions, but they're also contributing to the UK's broader decarbonisation efforts."
Earlier this year, ScottishPower partnered with ZeroAvia to develop a hydrogen supply for airports, and in April, the company teamed up with HiTrans to expand EV charging infrastructure.
