Kempower to Supply Fast Chargers for DFDS Electric Trucks

Kempower, a manufacturer of charging equipment, has secured a partnership with logistics company DFDS to supply fast chargers for electric trucks across their depots. Initial installations have already taken place in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Sweden.
Under the agreement, the number of chargers will not be fixed; instead, DFDS can request chargers based on their evolving needs. So far, five charging sites have been equipped with Kempower's fast chargers: three in the Netherlands, one in Belgium, and another in Sweden.
Kempower provided further details on the expansion of the DFDS charging hub in Gothenburg, Sweden, where the number of charging points has grown to 38, making it one of Sweden's largest electric truck charging stations. Kempower CEO, Tomi Ristimäk, referred to the collaboration as a "significant milestone," highlighting the partnership as a key step in advancing the electrification of transport.
Sophie-Kim Chapman, DFDS Vice President for Decarbonisation, shared that the company is aiming for at least 25% of its fleet to be electric by 2030, and partnerships like the one with Kempower are critical to achieving that goal.
DFDS, based in Copenhagen, has already integrated several electric trucks into its fleet. In March, the company placed an order for 100 additional electric trucks from Volvo Trucks, following a previous order of 125 Volvo FM Electric trucks in 2021. These trucks are currently operating in countries such as Sweden, Denmark, Lithuania, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
The newly ordered trucks will be deployed in nine European markets, including the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Sweden. Notably, some of these vehicles in Sweden are already being used by DFDS to transport goods to and from Volvo's manufacturing plant in Gothenburg.
