Electrify America Partners with Costco Wholesale to Install EV Charging Stations
Electrify America has teamed up with the retail giant Costco Wholesale to install electric vehicle charging stations at five Costco locations across the United States. The new charging stations will feature ultra-fast chargers capable of delivering up to 350 kW of power.
This collaboration aims to address the increasing demand for fast and accessible charging options. Electrify Commercial is supporting the initiative, which sees Costco owning and operating the stations. The charging stations will be located in California, Colorado, and Florida, and integrated into Electrify America's broader network. Electrify America's press release highlights that three Costco locations in California will each house between 10 and 14 hyper-fast chargers, while one location each in Colorado and Florida will have six such chargers.
Electrify America states that these charging stations are compatible with nearly all electric vehicle brands. As Costco is responsible for operating the stations, EV drivers will be charged according to Costco's set pricing. However, customers can use the Electrify America app to pay for their charging sessions, as the stations will be part of Electrify America's extensive network.
A subsidiary of Volkswagen, Electrify America is on a mission to expand its charging infrastructure across the United States. The company recently opened a new 32,000 square-foot Technology Campus near its headquarters in Northern Virginia, which features 22 hyper-fast chargers. By the end of 2023, Electrify America had extended its charging network to all 47 states in the mainland US.
