CATL has launched a new brand, 'Tianxing,' dedicated to electric commercial vehicle (CV) batteries, marking a significant step into the logistics and distribution sectors. The company unveiled its inaugural products under this brand, aimed at meeting diverse industry needs.
The Tianxing batteries from CATL boast energy storage capacities ranging from 30 to 200 kWh, catering to a broad spectrum of commercial vehicles used across various industries. Featuring cutting-edge technologies such as non-heat diffusion, double-layer large-surface liquid cooling, and aviation-grade insulation materials, these batteries prioritize safety and longevity. They also integrate low-lithium consumption graphite in the anode material and innovative bionic self-healing SEI passivation film technology.
A notable departure in design, CATL has opted for the cell-to-pack (CTP) approach over traditional module-level integration. This advancement enhances energy density, reduces weight, and optimizes production costs. Initially targeting the domestic market, CATL introduces two primary products: the Tianxing L Superfast Charging Edition and the Tianxing L Long Range Edition, both tailored for light commercial vehicles (LCVs). These batteries come with an impressive 8-year/800,000 km warranty.
The Tianxing L Superfast Charging Edition, with a capacity of 140 kWh and an energy density of 155 Wh/kg, supports 4C charging capability, enabling a full charge in just 15 minutes under optimal conditions. CATL highlights that this battery can achieve a 60% charge in a mere 12 minutes.
For longer operational ranges, the Tianxing L Long Range Edition offers a 200 kWh capacity and an energy density of 200 Wh/kg. Designed for medium to long-distance transportation, this battery provides a range of 500 km, ideal for high-frequency use scenarios where frequent charging stops are impractical.
CATL has already commenced mass production of the Tianxing L batteries, which are currently integrated into 21 models across 13 prominent companies in the market. These include Dongfeng Commercial Vehicles, SAIC Maxus, Foton Motor, and Yutong Group, among others, showcasing CATL's strategic penetration into the electric CV sector.
The introduction of the Tianxing brand underscores CATL's commitment to advancing electric mobility solutions tailored specifically for commercial applications, setting new standards in performance, reliability, and innovation within the industry.
